A note on the B.Tech. Ed. IT program and the optional BIT dual-degree pathway.

Message

The Bachelor of Technical Education in Information Technology (B.Tech. Ed. IT) at South City College of Science and Technology is an affiliated program of Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSOED). It is a four-year undergraduate program designed to produce qualified EdTech professionals, including instructors and curriculum developers, in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training.

A unique feature of the program is the dual degree pathway, where students can pursue both B.Tech. Ed. IT and Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT), enabling them to acquire strong technical competence alongside professional teaching and curriculum development skills. If a student is interested in acquiring a BIT degree (not compulsory), the student should invest at least six months and a maximum of one year.

This dual track expands career prospects, allowing graduates to work as IT professionals as well as educators in technical and vocational institutions. With a strong focus on Information Technology, the program blends technical expertise with pedagogical skills, preparing graduates to lead effectively in technical schools, vocational institutes, and related educational settings.

In addition to instructional skills, students gain competencies in curriculum design, resource development, and educational innovation, enabling them to contribute to strengthening Nepal’s technical education system. By preparing skilled human resources in the IT field, the B.Tech. Ed. IT program supports both educational advancement and the broader economic development of the country.
